SERVICEPLAN – a success story

Serviceplan has continued to grow since its creation in 1970 by Dr. Peter Haller and Rolf O. Stempel. Very early, Dr Haller and M. Stempel realised that integrated communication was an economic model of the future. That’s why, even now, all the disciplines of modern communication are united under the same roof at “The House of Communication” and remain perfectly interconnected.

One of the factors which explains Serviceplan’s success is its participation model as a partnership, with the objective to avoid any sale of shares to international networks. Each of the Group’s agencies is managed by 1 or 2 Managing Partners who are also majority shareholders. The Group is managed by the holding, created in 1995, which is today managed by Florian Haller, Dr. Peter Haller, Ronald Focken, Florian Freiherr von Horstein and Alexander Schill. In July 2002, Florian Haller succeeded Dr. Peter Haller as Chief Executive Officer which was the final stage of a restructuration which had been planned for a long time: Peter Haller and Rolf O. Stempel had decided this handover eight years before.

All the Serviceplan agencies throughout the world belong to the Serviceplan Group. There are four main types of agencies: Servieplan, Mediaplus (international and national media planning and buying, created in 1983), Facit Marketing Research (created in 1986) and the Group’s digital agency, Plan.Net (created in 1997).


Since he became CEO, Florian Haller has continued to develop the specialised agencies, particularly with the establishment of the successful model “The House of Communication” in other cities: Hamburg, Berlin and Bremen.

In parallel, Florian Haller has begun the group’s international expansion. Today Serviceplan is present in Beijing , Bogota, Brussels, Buenos Aires, Delhi, Dubai, Lima, London, Lyon, Madrid, Milan, Mexico, Miami, Moscow, New York, Panama, Paris, Santiago, Sao Paulo, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo, Vienna and Zurich.

Florian Haller has also made the Serviceplan group’s creative reputation a priority. To that end Alexander Schill, one of the most awarded advertising executives in the world, was named Chief Creative Office in 2008. At the Lions Festival in Cannes in 2014, Serviceplan was named the 2nd most creative independent agency in the world.
